What do you like about your role and the sector you work in?
I enjoy the role because of the variety of projects that can come about, as well as the technical nature of them. We are working with a lot of new generational companies, an example of this are Gigafactories, where we are looking to find solutions to issues that have never been faced before. I like thinking outside of the box and really understand the key pain points of a customer and finding them a solution for their projects. Within the Industrial market, we are working in some key sectors including High Technology, Pharmaceutical and Manufacturing, so there is always something new and interesting going on.
What challenges are driving the Industry sector ?
Historically Epoxy resin has been the go-to product in Industry and a lot of Specifiers use this floor covering out of habit. With the huge advances in Resilient flooring over the last 10 – 15 years and now with the ever more pressing and important sustainability drivers, Epoxy resin is looking like the dinosaur of the industry. It’s my role to educate and inform Specifiers and End Users alike, why they should consider moving away from this backward-looking technology to a new age of flooring.
Favourite Gerflor solutions and why?
Our Mipolam Biocontrol Performance range is a game changer. This product is the only one in the world that is certified to be used in Cleanrooms up to ISO 3 classification, and it also has 17% plant-based content in its construction makeup. This is a very impressive achievement by Gerflor to create such a product, that can resist such a harsh environment where cleanrooms have demanding maintenance regimes with their intensive cleaning protocols and use of staining agents.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I enjoy playing and watching all types of sports, as well as being a keen and avid cook. Mind you I am no Gordon Ramsey! Playing tennis in the morning, followed by watching the game and having family and friends around for dinner in the evenings makes the perfect weekend for me.
