What do you like about your role and the industry you work in?
I have worked in Social Housing for the best part of 20 years. Over this period, I have seen many trends arise including an aging population, limited high quality housing stock, rising costs for housing renovations to meet the Decent Homes and the Welsh Housing Quality Standards. This has brought about many challenges for our customers such as Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Contractors. My role means that I get to meet some very interesting people across the sector and I get to hear the different views from all stakeholders, this helps me on my journey in promoting our Gerflor Housing Solutions that can address these challenges. I consider myself extremely fortunate we have some of the best performing value for money products on the market and work within a housing team who are keen to listen and understand these requirements, and we can quickly react to any situation.
Favourite product ranges and why?
The Gerflor Fibre Technology (GFT) collections - Primetex Texline, Griptex are my favourites, these products are unique to the market. The backings are made using recycled plastic bottles (4 Bottles per 1m2). Not only is this a long term sustainable innovation, but these products can be loose-laid which reduces the need for adhesives and the upfront cost is also cheaper than a glued down product. Perfect for fast track renovations in Kitchens, Bathrooms, any living areas inside the threshold. There is also a wide range of contemporary colours and designs with realistic wood and mineral finishes available to choose from and are in Uk stock for fast delivery.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I am a keen Triathlete and train often in my spare time and have completed many events such as Ironman Wales 4 times, Ironman Bolton, Ironman Lanzarote and soon to take on Challenge Roth in June 2023, amongst other events during the year. I have 3 grandsons who all play rugby and football on weekends, and these are extremely eventful and they are a joy to watch. The rest of my time is spent with my beloved wife in our Caravan in Port Eynon on the Gower Peninsular….There is nothing like walking along the coast with your loved ones, in the sea air and having a well earned beer at the end of a long walk.
