Portland Hospital
The luxurious interior of the famous Portland Hospital in London has been enhanced by the installation of Taralay Premium floorcovering from Gerflor. As the only private hospital in London to be entirely dedicated to women and children, The Portland has a reputation for luxury and comfort and the specification of Taralay reflects the high standards associated with the organisation.
Taralay Premium has been laid in a number of the rooms in the main hospital building, all designed individually with blocks of one or more colour and complementary borders of others. The hospital's newly opened Maternal and Fetal Wellbeing Centre has also benefited from the Gerflor treatment. This refurbishment involved the installation of Taralay Premium in every consulting room, again in a range of colours and design choices.
“We chose the Taralay range for a number of reasons, not least its innovative design potential,” comments Tim Rose, Estates Manager at The Portland Hospital. “The Portland is associated with quality and we wanted a floorcovering that would echo this image. Taralay provided the perfect solution. The hospital and the new consulting facilities offer the very best in comfort and style and Taralay fulfilled all the aesthetic and performance criteria that we demanded.”
Taralay offers extreme durability, ideally suited to the heavy traffic that hospitals endure. The range is treated with Protecsol® for ultra-low maintenance, with an acoustic backing to minimise noise and promote a calm environment. Chemical and stain resistant, Taralay incorporates Sanosol, an anti bacterial and fungicidal treatment for optimum safety. Included in the range is the Attractions options, which were also used at The Portland Hospital for some of the rooms and for the exercise areas. These are fast-track loose-lay tiles with unique interlocking edges for secure and safe fixing. Again, maintenance is facilitated by the UV-cured PUR treatment.
The Taralay range comes in a host of vibrant, contemporary and natural colourways, offering creative freedom for designers to complement any interior décor. Taralay Metallica in Moon, Cosmic, Energy, Pulsar and Starlight was laid in some areas, with Taralay Forum in Yukon, Yangzte, Orul, Zambizi and Oural used in others. In addition, the Taralay Attractions included Flora, Coccinea and Olivia colour combinations. “We are delighted with the flooring,” concludes Tim Rose. “This is the third project using Gerflor products and the company has yet again provided innovation through the design options available in the Taralay collection and a higher class of floorcovering for the hospital. In addition, we are assured not only of quality but also of reliability from both the product range and the company itself.”
